If you are looking for wedding dress shops near Peterborough, Sessions Bridal in Spalding is around 30 minutes away by car, or about 20 minutes by train from Peterborough to Spalding, and the boutique is under 250 metres' walk from Spalding station. Every gown is made to measure, prices start from £795, and your first visit is a private 90-minute appointment with a trained seamstress.

Sessions Bridal is a made-to-measure bridal boutique on the ground floor of The Sessions House, Sheep Market, Spalding, Lincolnshire PE11 1BB, around 30 minutes from Peterborough. It opened in September 2026, makes every gown to measure with a standard turnaround of 3 months (express in as little as 4 weeks), and offers private appointments with trained, experienced seamstresses.

Choosing where to shop for your dress is one of the first big decisions of wedding planning. This guide explains how easy it is to reach us from Peterborough, what happens at an appointment, and why a made-to-measure boutique can save you time, money and worry.

How far is Sessions Bridal from Peterborough?

Not far at all. By car, Spalding is around 30 minutes from Peterborough. If you would rather take the train, the journey from Peterborough to Spalding takes about 20 minutes, and The Sessions House is under 250 metres' walk from Spalding station, so you can step off the train and be in the showroom a few minutes later. That makes an appointment with your mum, sister or bridesmaids very easy to plan, even if not everyone drives.

You will find us inside The Sessions House, a Grade II listed former Victorian courthouse built in 1843 on Sheep Market, right in the centre of Spalding. We are also within easy reach of Boston and King's Lynn, and brides come to us from across Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire. If you live in Spalding itself, our guide to wedding dresses in Spalding covers the boutique in more detail.

What makes a made-to-measure boutique different from other wedding dress shops?

At Sessions Bridal every gown is made to measure. Your dress is made to your measurements from the start, which typically saves £500 to £800 in major alterations.

We also work directly with experienced bridal tailors, with no middleman and no wholesalers. That keeps the process personal: the seamstress who measures you understands exactly how your gown will be made, and you can talk through changes with someone who knows the fabric and the construction.

Designs can be modified too. You might love a gown but want lace sleeves, a detachable train or a different fabric. Bespoke options range from small touches such as added pockets to a full redesign, so the dress you walk away with feels like yours rather than one picked off a rail.

What happens at a bridal appointment at Sessions Bridal?

Appointments are private, so the showroom is reserved for you and your guests while you are with us. Nobody else is browsing in the background, and there is no pressure to buy. You will have a one-to-one stylist, and you will be offered a complimentary glass of bubbles or a seasonal cocktail.

Your first visit is the Wedding Gown First Fitting & Consultation. It lasts 90 minutes, costs £25 booked online, and the fee is refundable against your gown. That gives you time to try different silhouettes, talk about your venue and the feel of your day, and take measurements properly rather than in a rush.

You will be looked after by trained, experienced seamstresses. Melissa has over 25 years of sewing experience, including beadwork, needlework and bespoke garments, and holds a Higher Diploma in Fashion and Design. Mollie is a qualified artist and a lecturer in Art and Design, and supports Melissa in making the wedding dresses. You can read more about the team.

What will you find in the showroom?

We keep dozens of designs on site, so you can compare shapes and fabrics side by side before deciding what suits you. Here is what you can expect to explore:

  • Dozens of designs in a range of silhouettes

  • Fabrics including tulle, silk, chiffon and satin, so you can feel the difference in person

  • Changes to a design, such as lace sleeves, a detachable train or a different fabric

  • Bespoke options, from added pockets to a full redesign

  • Gowns from £795 in the Classic Collection, through to the fully bespoke Bespoke Masterpiece range

How long does it take to get a wedding dress made?

Our standard turnaround is 3 months, with express options in as little as 4 weeks. That compares with the 6 to 9 months that is common elsewhere, which can be a real relief if your wedding is sooner than you expected or you simply have not found the right dress yet.

Once your gown is ready, existing brides can book a Follow Up Fitting & Alteration appointment. It lasts 60 minutes, and we ask you to bring the shoes and underwear you will wear on the day, so the length and fit are exactly right.

Is it worth travelling from Peterborough for your wedding dress?

We think the short trip is worth it if you want a gown made to your measurements, a private appointment and the chance to change a design rather than settle for one. Because every dress is made to measure and our standard turnaround is 3 months, you also have more flexibility on timing than many brides expect.

If you would like to see our gowns on the runway first, the Sessions Bridal Fashion Show takes place on Sunday 8 November 2026 at The Sessions House: four collections, one runway. You can find the fashion show details here.
